SPAMMERS: I WON'T DISABLE MY COMMENTSWEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1 2004 @ 09:11 PMWell, today my blog was under comment spam attack... for the second time this week. My apologies to those subscribed to certain posts and that got kinda spammed as well. In response to my claims about my blog engine being "unspammable", one of those bastards dedicated time to build a script specially designed to work against my system. How flattering!
So, while I work in order to keep anybody else out of the problem, I'm only disabling the subscriptions, while I work on a solution. Right now I'm very busy with client work, but I hope I'll find time during the weekend to add extra security. In the meantime, comments will remain on (even though traffic has been kinda low lately), since the system already blocks massive comments posting: from the thousands of messages sent by the script, only less than 200 actually made it through. I plan to reduce that window. Someone could obviously hand type in spam, but there's no way for a script to get to it (or at least it would be a LOT of work) OSCAR TRELLESSEPTEMBER 2 2004 @ 02:46 PMExactly... There's always a way to circumvent security measures when you are keen on finding your way in. My claims of "unspammability" were based on the fact that they've tried a number of times before, unsuccesfully. Now they've found their way around my first line of defense. Anyway, I think I can fix it :)
CHRISTOPHER WIGGINTONSEPTEMBER 5 2004 @ 12:07 PMThat is so crazy that they would specifically try to hack your custom-built system. Those bastards will resort to anything. LOL
