GMAIL FEVER (WANT AN INVITE?)

THURSDAY, JULY 1 2004 @ 01:19 AM

At this point, I assume everybody knows what is Gmail, and probably have an account of their own. I got my Gmail account a couple of weeks ago, thanks to an invitation sent by Jonas Galvez, but haven't been able to give it a real try. However, I logged in a few minutes ago and found out that I have 6 invitations available. If you want one of them, leave your info in the comments.

Is there anybody using his or her Gmail account formally? I mean, as a primary email account. If you have your own server and/or your own domain, you probably don't need a Gmail account, although it is kinda cool, as everything that becomes fashionable because seems restricted. It is in human nature to desire what we can't have :)

Clearly, this viral marketing technique of giving away invitations through already established users is getting these guys lots of demographic info, and capitalizing on their existing advertising systems. But, it's that all?

I've lost a link to a desktop tool that allowed access to your Gmail account via POP, or at least that's what I understood it did. I'll post the link if I can find it later.

Oh - what I wouldn't give for a chance at a Gmail account! Surely I'll have been too slow, but at least I got to express my desire to own one! For that alone Oscar, big thanks!

Don't know if this interests anyone, but there is a extension for Firefox that shows how many new items you have in your Gmail account. Find it here...

Sure I would like a gmail account.
I was waiting until the early adopter period was over.
Also, it would be even more prestigious from the likes of Oscar.
Thanks for any result.

Ok guys, I just sent you the invitations I had. Unfortunately, wikke was #6, so Anthony, Gert, Martin and Owas will have to wait for a little longer...

For those of you that didn't leave your last name, I just repeated your first name. Gmail won't let me send an invite using only your first name.

I am gradually using mine as my subscriptions and possible junk mail listings. So far so good. This will usually involve a lot more reading than actually writing of e-mails, so. But I do like what I see so far. I can't wait until there is POP access so I can use Trillian to monitor my gmail inbox.
