AFTER ALMOST A WEEK OF CAPTIVITY...

TUESDAY, JUNE 22 2004 @ 08:14 PM

I'm finally playing with my Robosapiens. Ever since Greg got his and I learned more about that little funny robot, I tried to track him down in almost every electronics store in Manhattan, with no luck. Then I just forgot about it... However, Elizabeth got me one as a birthday present, but even though it arrived to her office about a week ago, she kept him captive until last night.

For her, the date is the date, so I couldn't play with my new toy until past midnight. I've been busy all day today, so I couldn't play around too much with the robot, but I just shoot a short video of him, demonstrating that he is full of attitude. The remote control comes with more than 60 pre-programmed actions, and you can use them to build a batch program, a sequence of up to 6 actions. I used that feature to maintain my Robosapiens active long enough to shoot the video.

And in case you were still wondering, yes, today's my birthday :)

Happy B-day cracka!

Thank you guys :)

Yeah, this robot is freaking funny... it's not that smart, you can program a sequence of actions to be performed and/or assign them to the robot's sensors, so it will perform those actions if the sensors is touched.

I'm not sure how difficult it could be to disassemble it to repaint the parts... I would like it to be black or silver, but if it is too hard to put it back together, white doesn't seem too bad :)

woohoo! (about time ;-)

seriously, there are a few forums popping up about robosapien (the seemingly most hardcore one is gone, however). the most active one i've found is here: http://www.i-cybie.net/forums/forum-view.asp?forumid=18

now that one of my other projects is done (for now), i'm going to get a little bit more time to start modding my robo's shell. i already have mold-making materials, as well as some liquid plastic (to make my own parts), so i think it's time to play.

keep us posted of your progress! :-)

cheers

Well, I'm not that advanced onto modding electronics, so I think that forums will come in very handy, thanks! The only thing I've found so far is that the robosapiens responds to some other remotes: I have managed to make him go forward and make turns at will, using the air conditioner's remote, but there's no way to stop him :)

That may seem idiotic but that's as far as my experimentation has gone. I do have a history of tearing apart my toys to see how they worked, and made all kind of things with their parts. However, since I was 10, the policy is to grant the toy at least 2 months of regular use, before exploring it's guts. I guess it is just to ensure I will enjoy it a little bit, just in case I can't put it back together later :)
