Quick Tip for Flash on Firefox
Ever since adopting Firefox as one of my primary browsers, I've been noticing a particular issue more and more. It happens when setting a Flash movie to stretch vertically along the available height of the browser window, the effect being that you can only see only a portion of the movie, if viewing it in Firefox.
To solve the problem, all you need to do is insert the following CSS portion into your style sheet or HTML document header:
body, html {
height: 100%;
overflow: hidden;
}
That's it, no sweat.

Update: Here is a follow-up post.
Upcoming Event: Powered by Detroit
Powered by Detroit is a conference designed to promote the use of Flash and ColdFusion together, as the dynamic duo they are. I will be delivering a presentation on Usability, and the current agenda features sessions for professionals of all levels of familiarity with Flash and Coldfusion. However, if you wanna put your knowledge to test, take the PbD Daily Quizzle.
Powered by Detroit will be held on April 9th and 10th this year, and offers three session tracks: Foundations, Design and Server-Side, a keynote on Flash the first day, and a keynote on ColdFusion delivered by Ben Forta the second day.
For more details, visit the conference website.
At last, news from FlashEurope…
I was just about to "officially" withdraw my participation in FlashEurope(for the second time), when I received an email from Craig Swann, a few minutes ago, announcing that he will be functioning "as Program Director and Speaker Liaison for FlashEurope". In the same message Craig informs that the new dates for the conference will be June 15th-17th, as it is also indicated in the new website they have put together.
I really hope the addition of Craig makes a difference in how the communications between the organizers and the participants has been (almost inexistent), and that they manage to make of FlashEurope a successful event, after all.
Right now, I'm not sure if I will be able to make it to the event on those dates. I certainly wasn't going to make it on the March dates, as I will be visiting Lima, but that's another story.
----
Update: I just want to make it clear that I won't be participating in Flash Europe. Sadly, it is looking more and more like is not going to happen. Unfortunately, there's no way to communicate with them and make my name dissapear from the list they have online. Again, I am no longer a speaker for that conference, I am in no way involved with the event or the organizers, and I am obviously on the side of the atendees on this, the community and everybody that supported the event in any way.
----
Update: To the light of new developments in the Flash Europe story, and from what I have gathered from al around, it seems like the whole thing has been a scam. Harold Polo and whoever else has been involved in the organization of this "conference" have deliberately used the names of renowned members of the Flash community to rob people that wanted to attend what looked like the best Flash conference ever.
Off the clock
I've been in work up to my eyeballs during the past few months, so it's nice to finally have some pressure-free time available. So, while the next big project comes, I will be catching up with a few personal projects, doing some business development and having some vacation time.
I just got off the closing phase of the e-learning project that kept me busy for the last eight months. The International Institute for Learning (IIL) has been working hard to create a series of interactive modules aimed to build Project Management skills, based on the contents of their own face-to-face certification courses. Looking at the final product, I'm proud of being part of the team that brought it to life.
I'm unsure on when the IIL will launch the product, but I will publish some samples in my portfolio, as soon as it is appropriate.
During the following weeks, I will be mostly at home catching up with my reading, working on some personal projects and losing some of pounds I gained as collateral damage of telecommuting for the last 12 months.
