FlashForward 2003 as it goes.

This morning I was looking for some information about who is blogging from FlashForward, and the information just came to me from the FlashCoders list.

Here are some URLs where to find updates about the conference:

New Product: Macromedia Central

I had almost forgot about those warning messages found by someone trying to hack into the undocumented features on the first (?) release of the Flash Player 6. Several of them read in part “Macromedia Flash Central is required” or something like that. Since then, I was somewhat curious about the nature of that upcoming application.

Macromedia Central is a desktop application designed to let final users manage multiple Flash applications and the interaction between them, either when they are online or offline. For Flash developers, Macromedia Central will ease the way we build, distribute and charge for Flash applications.

Macromedia Central is due this Summer, and you can already get more information by visiting the beta version Macromedia Central Development Center. Additionally, there is a white-paper available here.

Getting colors from GIF images

This is one of the tricks we learned from Joshua last night. Did you know you could add colors to the Color Swatches Panel, from a GIF file? Well, it was new for me and many people in the meeting.

Last night at NYMMUG’s meeting

I knew I would be regreting if I didn’t make it to the meeting, so, despite of the rainy weather, I went over to the place where Motion Over Time is located. Lucky me, I found familiar faces… since I’m new to the group, and not too good at PR.

Well, this meeting with Joshua Davis was interesting, funny and very inspiring. As a matter of fact, he used us to beta-test a presentation he is preparing for the upcomming Flash in the Can festival. Joshua has always something to say, new tricks and discoveries to share from his daily work with Flash, and that’s what we got last night. After Joshua’s presentation, I had the opportunity of hearing impressions from many of the people, all of them leaving the place inspired and motivated.

Thanks Joshua and everybody at the NYMMUG for such a great night.

Flashcomponent.com relaunched

This has been everywhere for the past couple of days, so if you were living under a rock and didn’t get it (just like me), here it goes: Dura brothers (Josh and Daniel) and Keran have been working on the relaunch of Flashcomponent.com. The site is already collecting components from developers, who get a chance to win a copy of Swift 3D + Optimaze, from eRain.
